Acres and acres of landscaped park right along the East River, Gantry is lush with native grasses and features a wide plaza and 4 distinct piers for catching
even-closer views of the Manhattan skyline. Picnic tables, ball fields and playgrounds top off this Long Island City neighborhood jewel. Spring and summer bring concerts and shows, and views of the Macy's 4th of July fireworks display from Gantry are spectacular!
Wondering about the park's name? A pair of gantries, which are old-fashioned shipping lifts, hover over the park: a reminder of the area's industrial and commercial roots.
Peninsula Park is the newer (even grassier!) addition to Gantry. Walk north to get there, and enjoy a game of frisbee or a barbecue.
